Kingston: The Sir John A. Macdonald Bicentennial Commission is taking news of the Father of Confederation’s 200th birthday celebrations to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Professional actors Matthew J. Donovan, who plays Sir John A. Macdonald, andAnna Sudac, both stars from SALON Theatre, will be providing on-board musical and dramatic entertainment for VIA Rail passengers on the train from Montreal to Halifax and return.
“Thanks to the generosity of VIA Rail our Commission will be spreading the word about the fast-approaching Macdonald Bicentennial,” said Jim Garrard from the Sir John A. Macdonald Bicentennial Commission. “This trip is the first of many that will allow us to connect with Canadians across the country Macdonald did so much to create.”
The Commission representatives will depart from the Kingston VIA Station Friday and arrive in Halifax on Saturday. On Sunday morning in Halifax Sir John A. Macdonald (Matthew J. Donovan) will be paying his respects to his late colleague, Sir Charles Tupper, at Tupper’s grave in Halifax’s St. John’s Cemetery.
