If you take an interest in the life and milieu of Sir John A. Macdonald, you’ll welcome news of a documentary film intended to mark the 200th anniversary of Barriefield Village. In Sir John A.’s time, Barriefield lay just across the Cataraqui River from Kingston, Ontario, where he practised law. We know that Macdonald acted as lawyer for at least one house purchase in Barriefield, and he would have passed through the village regularly en route to Ottawa.
McCallum’s Barriefield will air for the first time on Thursday, June 5th at The Screening Room, 120 Princess St., Kingston. The show starts at 5:30pm, preceded by a reception at 5:00. Admission is free.
