Kingston: Attention anyone out there named John Macdonald. Kingston, the home of Canada’s first Prime Minister wants to give you a Canada Day you’ll never forget.
“I am pleased to announce that the first person in Canada named John Macdonald who contacts our Sir John A. Macdonald Bicentennial Commission will be Kingston’s guest of honour on Canada Day,” said Arthur Milnes, Commissioner of the non-profit, non-partisan group encouraging Canadians to mark the fast-approaching 200th birthday of Canada’s Father of Confederation in 2015. “They will be given a free hotel room at Kingston’s famed Ambassador Hotel and Conference Centre on July 1, be the guest of honour on a Sir John A. Macdonald-themed walking tour on July 2 and even have their pictures taken with Sir John A. himself (actor Matthew Donovan). We will also be inviting the winner of the John Macdonald Contest to march in Kingston’s Canada Day Parade.”
“The fast-approaching 200th anniversary of the birth of Sir John A. Macdonald of Kingston, Canada’s first Prime Minister, in 2015 will be a very important milestone for Kingston and Canada,” said Venicio Rebelo, General Manager of the Ambassador Hotel & Conference Centre. “We are looking forward to welcoming “John A. Macdonald” on July 1, 2013, the anniversary of the day in 1867 when his namesake’s dream of a united Canada came to fruition. Happy birthday Canada and thank you Sir John A.!”
The contest rules are simple: The first Canadian named “John Macdonald” (spelling must be accurate) who emails Rose Bertoia, Marketing Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org, and correctly answers the following skill-testing question will be declared the winner.
The skill testing question is: Sir John A. Macdonald’s son, Hugh John, became Premier of what Canadian province?
