The Macdonald-Cartier Project consists of three months of outdoor, public rehearsal and script development for a new SALON Acting Company stage production about the long, incredible partnership between Sir John A. Macdonald and Sir George-Étienne Cartier that helped so much to bind Canada together.
This open rehearsal and development process was shared daily from May 27 through September 2 2013 with thousands of Kingston area school children, citizens and visitors. It was, in itself, an important arts, education and tourism attraction that brought Kingston’s and Canada’s history and heritage alive. The rehearsals took place at Confederation Basin and the Visitors’ Information Centre.
The debut performance of Bold as a Lion (working title) is a theatrical examination of the relationship between Sir John A. Macdonald and Sir George-Étienne Cartier which examines their contributions to the formation of Canada.
